Super Curriculum

At Vyners School, we want students to have every opportunity to develop their love of learning.  We have developed a Supercurriculum which provides students with a range of suggested activities that take their regular curriculum further.  The Supercurriculum take the subjects students study in the classroom beyond that which their teacher has taught.

The aims of the Supercurriculum are: to increase the cultural capital of students, to increase their mastery of our subjects, to help them navigate and make wiser choices in their free time, and to support parents in assisting their children's progress. It enables pupils to develop specialist knowledge in areas that already seize their interest, but it can also inspire curiosity about areas previously unknown and unventured.

Each subject gives recommendations for; events, shows, games, matches, fixtures, tours, fayres, podcasts, wider reading, visits, attractions, exhibitions, installations, museums, clubs and societies, national and international competitions, visiting speakers and festivals, study tours, independent research projects, MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) and blogs, students and parents pick from the suggestions or use Unifrog to find more activities.

Universities and employers are showing increasing interest in pupils’ super-curricular profiles. They recognise the need for specialism with breadth, and the flexibility that this implies.
