Job Title:                Science Technician

                                    Term-time only – 31.25 hours per week, 38.6 weeks per year

Reports to:           Senior Science Technician

Salary:                Starting salary NJC scale 3, scale point 5.  £20,957 per annum.

                                    (FTE £28,521 per annum)

                                Rising to a maximum of NJC scale 3, scale point 6.  £21,257pa.

                                   (FTE £28,925 per annum)

Working Days:      5 days per week, term-time only

Working Hours:       31.25 hours per week.  8.30am – 3.15pm (including 30 minute unpaid  lunch break.

Place of Work:       Vyners School

Start date:            As soon as possible     

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a term time only Science Technician to work as part of our non-teaching team, supporting the delivery of the science curriculum through assisting the department with preparation of experiments and equipment.   This is an important role to us, and plays a key role in providing timely and effective support to all teachers within the Science department.  The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the methodology and safety requirements associated with working in a scientific environment.   Working alongside the Senior Science Technician and another Science Technician, this is an ideal opportunity for an organised, adaptable, cooperative and proactive person who is equally happy working within a team and independently.  Previous experience of working in a school environment is desirable but not essential.
